There once was a girl hailed from Dallas
Who had nary a bone made of malice.
But she started to brood
for perception was skewed
and as such her heart began to callous.
The result was she focused on flaws
in herself and then searched for the cause
so she could correct
any perceived defect
instead of embracing the laws
of the Universe which accepts her as whole…
down to every last freckle and mole.
It knows that beneath
her stained crooked teeth
is a heart largely made of pure gold.
So she began to stop watching her weight;
ceased obsessing o’er things that she ate.
She often bit her lip
Or made a smart quip
And refused to let others dictate
her desire to express gratitude
for all blessings in spite of her mood.
She gave thanks for stretch marks
and began to embark
on a life with faith freshly renewed.
No more cursing those hairs that were straight
which in turn helped shut down the debate
that biting her nails
might imply that she failed
in turn freeing up time to create.
She gave thanks every day she got dressed
for big feet and a (somewhat) small chest.
She began dressing girly
for it was still way too early
to stop giving life all of her best.
So if you find that you’re feeling quite stressed
or at times maybe even depressed;
it might sound cockamamie
but take it from Amy
try counting the ways you are blessed.
